Pilar Colomés Iess

Pilar is a graduate of Columbia University in New York (LL.M.) and is admitted to practice in New York and Spain. She focuses her experience on public international law, investment arbitration, international commercial arbitration and transnational and cross-border litigation.

Pilar has acted jurisdictions around the world (USA, UK, Netherlands, Spain, Latin America) advising clients in a variety of international investment and commercial arbitrations run under different arbitral rules (ICSID, PCA/UNCITRAL, ICC, LCIA, CIAM) and legislations (both common and civil law). Pilar has represented investors and sovereign states (such as the Kingdom of Spain) on many occasions, advising them in high-profile investment disputes involving complex local and court-assisted relief proceedings such as amicus curiae (international organizations, European Commission), interim measures and enforcement procedures in foreign jurisdictions, among others. 

Pilar’s experience covers different industry sectors such as energy, construction and the financial sector. Her experience is notable for her deep knowledge of complex issues of public and private international law (she is adjunct professor of Public International Law for the Law Degree at Universidad Pontificia de Comillas).
