Tudor Velea
Tudor’s practice focuses on advising banks and private investment funds (both sponsor and buyer side), co-investment funds and some of the private equity industry’s leading sponsors of buyout, growth capital, media and telecommunications, international private equity, U.S. and non-U.S. private investment funds. Tudor received his DEA cum laude from Université de Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne in 1999 and his J. D. from Columbia University School of Law in New York in 2002, where he was the Managing Editor for the Columbia Journal of European Law. He was admitted to the bar in New York in 2002 and the Bucharest bar in 2008. Tudor has significant experience in emerging markets fund formation, including assisting emerging market-based sponsors in accessing international markets. Tudor has more than 15 years of practice focused on Venture Capital, Private Equity, M&A, Project Finance and Real Estate.
Tudor represented numerous private equity clients, including Clayton Dubilier & Rice, Odyssey Investment Partners, Tudor Ventures, Windward Capital Partners, North Castle Partners and Vinci Partners. Currently, Tudor is a member of the Private Equity Growth Capital Council, a US research organization for the private equity industry globally. Prior to founding the firm, Tudor began his career in the Investment Management Group at Debevoise & Plimpton in New York, and was a senior associate at White & Case in Miami and Dentons in Bucharest.

GE in its real estate acquisitions and the development of GE’s logistics parks throughout Romania, a transaction valued at $150 million.
Represented a top tennis player sponsor with a complex international arbitration in the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
PayPoint plc. in its acquisition of Mobifone SRL a data transfer company owned by Diverta Group, a €35 million transaction value.
AIG in its real estate acquisitions in Central and Eastern Europe.
Ford Corporation of Europe in its business set up in Eastern Europe (division of the financing arm, car making factory in Craiova and setting a wide network of dealerships in Romania.
Bank of Austria Creditanstalt in its real estate financings of various multimillion projects in Central and Eastern Europe.
BJ Services in its bid to acquire part of Romanian Government interests in S.C. Petrom S.A.
Equity One, Inc., a real estate investment trust, in connection with the registration and public offering of shares of common stock.
Served as debtors’ counsel for Mirant Corporation (one of the largest producers, generators and marketers of electricity in the world) in its successful chapter 11 reorganization involving more than $10 billion in debt – the 10th largest bankruptcy filing in US history in 2006.
H.I.G. Capital in the acquisition by Securus Technologies, Inc., an H.I.G. Capital portfolio company, of Evercom Holdings, Inc., an independent provider of inmate telecommunication services. Securus consummated a $154 million registered offering and entered into a new $30 million working capital credit facility as well as issued Senior Subordinated Notes in the principal amount of $40 million.
Thane International, Inc. (an H.I.G. Capital portfolio company) in connection with its acquisition of Reliant Interactive Media Services, Inc., a publicly held marketing company.
